How can Venezuelans be helped to avoid total comunism path being followed by Chavez?

The international community is aware of the path taken by Venezuelans president Chavez to take the country to a comunism like the one in Cuba. His mentor Castro. He is dangerous, he has oil and therefore loaded with US$ and his influence its spreading in centre and South America. What can be done to stop him? The students are protesting but as he has all the public powers plus army under his control the effect of the protests is low. Does anyone has ideas?
