My old Hughes DirectvDVR is dying-WHAT is cheapest NON HD-DVR alternative that I can BUY-NOT rent?

I KNOW I'll pay Directv $7/mo for using a DVR (doing that now)-and I would just as soon buy it( box) from them-used-NONHD as I know they will hle me less-and card will come with it.I read that NON-HD model is WAY cheaper and I REALLY DON'T CARE about HD. BEFORE I call them and get some new clueless idiot trying to sell me $120/yr HD and a lease (I WILL NOT LEASE!) is there ANYTHING I can do to get a decent price on refurbed Directv compatible DVR-ALL I want is to record and I'm locked in at good price for year-I have GOOD 5 LNB antenna with BOTH cables live (their tech checked it) but I DO NOT need HD-just the DVR with 80 hrs.or more recording time. Is there ANY outfit OUTSIDE Directv that Directv CO-OPERATES with-or am I stuck with just them (for BUYING box) I also DO NOT want to buy (from outside company) and then PAY monthly for reconfigured card-so THAT probably limits me to the mother company.
