How many yards of pre quilted fabric do i need to make a blanket for a twin size bed?
As a rule pre-quilted material comes in widths of 44". A standard twin mattress is 36" wide. This would leave you with 4" overhang on each side. The length of a twin mattress is 74". You would want material to cover the pillow and hang over the tail end; we should add 12" here. So, uming the material comes in 44" wide bolts, you will need this 84" long or 2 1/3rd yds. The average cost for pre-quilted material is $19.99 a yard (not cheap) but a huge time saver. I got this info from my daughter who works at a fabric store.
