I think that the message is appropriate for the right maturity level. I believe that you have to do what you think is right whether it's breaking a law or not. If you think it's wrong don't do it. If you think it's right and nobody else does, do it. So to answer your question, yes it is appropriate, but remember it's only appropriate to the people who have the correct maturity level.
