SPANISH HELP PRETERITE AND IMPERFECT TENSE?

ok i have to describe some past memories using both preterite and imperfect tense and i have to say were i was what happend and how i felt and who was there and where the event occured and im not really sure how to do that i get confused can anyone plz give me some examples plz and thank you
